Anti-Money Laundering (AML)

We are looking for an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer in Singapore

The Compliance function is part of the Risk Management Section supporting investment banking and corporate banking activities. They are responsible for advising the business on the appropriate standards for compliance with the applicable laws, rules and regulations. 

The AML officer is responsible to monitor transactions for potentially suspicious activities, identify, investigate and document suspicious activities and complete the Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) in accordance with the regulatory rules and regulations. 

The Risk Management section maintains a very high quality standard and thus requires the compliance officer who can be a strong individual contributor as well as a key team player.

The following key responsibilities for this role includes, but not limiting to:

  • Detect suspicious activity based on a variety of AML Systems generated transactional alerts from transactional activity (which may include wire transfers, trade finance letters of credit and loans
  • Determine if alerts can be closed or warrant further investigation in the AML System
  • Research past alerts and cases
  • Request additional information from the clients by contacting business or operations units to determine if it is an unusual transactions warrants closure of the investigation or if further reporting is warranted
  • Escalate unusual activity or lack of responsiveness to inquiries and keep AML/Sanctions Team informed
  • Document investigations in the AML System.
  • Draft Suspicious Transaction Reports ("STRs") as warranted Investigate referrals from the business and operations units.
  • Perform second control checks on the first line of defence
  • Be involved in projects related to system enhancement for screening and monitoring tools
  • Provide guidance and advisory to Operations
  • Be able to work independently
  • As necessary, use available research tools (public internet sources as well as third party sites) to identify information concerning transactions identified for further investigation
  • Assist with ad hoc projects where assigned


  • Preferably ICA qualified
  • 6-8 years’ experience in banking products including trade finance
  • Relevant experience and have exposure to AML & Sanction related activities

Key requirements:

  • Good understanding of trade life cycle of products
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, eg. Words, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Analytical and attention to details

The position will be on local terms and reporting to the Vice President of AML & Sanction.
